The Huntington Beach Bad Boy or The Peoples Champ Tito Ortiz (16-11-1 MMA, 15-11-1 UFC) made his MMA and UFC debut in May of 1997 and remained with the promotion until 2012 having set the record for most fights in UFC history with 27. Of his 15-year career, Ortiz fought only in the UFC, with the exception of his third pro bout. After failing to capture the UFC Light Heavyweight title against Frank Shamrock in 1999, Ortiz would bounce back and capture the championship seven months later against Wanderlei Silva. Ortiz would then hold that championship for the next three years, setting the record for most consecutive and successful title defenses in the Light Heavyweight division. Ortiz is also most notably remembered for his feud with Ken Shamrock, where he defeated Shamrock of three occasions. His refusal to defend his title against Chuck Liddell, which lead to a long lay off and contract disputes with the UFC and a feud with UFC president Dana White. His 2011 “comeback” snapping a four fighting losing skid. His trilogy with Forrest Griffin, and his marriage to pornography icon Jenna Jameson. The owner of Punishment Athletics, Ortiz has retired from active competition, but has graduated to manager and promoter. His management company, Primetime 360 Sports and Entertainment firm has already signed Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos among others. As for his amateur MMA promotion Fight Club MMA, Ortiz has joined forces with longtime promoter Roy Englebrecht for their first event October 6th in Orange County, California. Ortiz will discuss all this and his recent comments of current UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and much more.
Dave & Kevin will be discussing he removal of UFC 153’s main and co-main event top stars as Jose Aldo and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson have dropped out of their bouts due to injury. Aldo was set to face former UFC Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, in Edgar’s first drop to 145 and it unknown if Edgar will wait for Aldo or remain on the card. Jackson was set to face Brazilian standout Glover Teixeira. With the UFC injury plague in full effect, Teixeira is left with no determined opponent, however Fabio Maldonado is campaigning for the spot.
Dave & Kevin will also be discussing the possible application of “Instant Replay” into the UFC in order to better assist referees and judges render the best possible decision.
