TUF 16: Episode 1 notes and results

Episode 1- September 14, 2012- Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson are the coaches for Season 16 of The Ultimate Fighter. The season will feature welterweight fighters.
32 fighters will fight on this premiere episode to advance into the Ultimate Fighter house. The fights will consist of two 5-minute rounds.
Kevin Nowaczyk (11-2) v. Dom Waters (4-1)
Round 1- Waters lands a huge uppercut that drops Nowaczyk. Waters jumps on him with some hammer-fists to force the ref to stop the fight.

Lev Magen (4-0) v. Michael Hill (4-0)
Magen fights out of Las Vegas but is from Israel. Hill is from Kelowna, British Columbia.
Round 1- Hill lands a huge right hook that drops Magen and knocks him out.

Bristol Marunde (15-7) v. George Lockhart (10-4)
Round 1- Marunde clinches Lockhart against the fence but Lockhart lands some punches and pushes Marunde against the fence. Lockhart works for a takedown and eats a punch. Marunde secures a guillotine choke and puts Lockhart to sleep.

Jason South (8-0) v. Mike Ricci (7-2)
Mike Ricci is from Montreal, Quebec and trains at the Tristar gym.
Round 1- Ricci lands a straight right hand but gets pushed against the cage. Ricci esacpes the clinch position and lands a straight left hand that drops South. Ricci swarms on him with ground and pound and knocks out Jason South.

Round 1- Clark goes for a takedown and Chaney jumps guard. Chaney looks for an arm-bar then into an omoplata, into a triangle choke to force the submission.

Zane Kamaka (6-0) v. Cameron Diffley (3-0)
Round 1- Diffley scores a takedown but Kamaka sweeps him and lands in his guard. Diffley secures an arm-bar off his back to force the submission.

Frank Camacho (10-2) v. Neil Magny (7-1)
Round-by-Round highlights are shown
Round 1- Camacho scores an overhand left and clinches Magny aginst the fence. Camacho lands a knee to the body and shoulders to the face. Camacho scores a takedown, advances to back-mount and lands several big punches. Magny scrambles to his feet and takes Camacho down. Camacho gets to his feet as the round ends.
Round 2- Magny scores a takedown and scores punches but Camacho gets back to his feet. Magny lands a nice punch combination and clinches Camacho against the fence. Magny lands punches as Camacho looks to be tired.
Round 3- Magny lands jabs and straight right hands at will. Camacho scores a takedown and looks for a guillotine choke but Magny escapes. Magny lands several punches from a full-mount position and batters Camacho. Magny scores another takedown but Camacho looks for another choke. Magny easily escapes and lands more heavy strikes from top position.

Matt Secor (3-1) v. Max Griffin (4-1)
Round-by-Round highlights are shown
Round 1- Griffin defends Secor’s takedown attempts and lands on top. Secor looks for a knee-bar but Griffin defends. Griffin reverses another takedown and lands punches from top position. Griffin continues to defend Secor’s constant takedown attempts and land strikes on the reversal. Griffin lands punches in Secor’s guard and avoids submission attempts. Griffin lands a punch that drops Secor and looks for a rear-naked choke but the round comes to an end.
Round 2- Griffin lands a solid right hand but Secor lands a takedown. Secor advances to a mount and looks for an arm-triangle choke. Secor is unable to secure the choke but is on top when the round ends.
Round 3- Secor scores a takedown early in the round and improves to full-mount. Secor lands punches from the full-mount and rolls into an arm-bar attempt. Griffin defends the arm-bar and lands in Secor’s guard. Secor secures a triangle choke and forces the submission.

Round 1- Ruberg lands a big punch and clinches Webb against the fence. Webb looks for a takedown but Ruberg reverses and lands in half-guard. Webb tries to get Ruberg back into his guard but Ruberg defends and lands a punch to the body. Ruberg lands an elbow to the head but Webb rolls and gets Ruberg in his guard. Ruberg improves to half-guard and lands punches but Webb looks for a kimura. Ruberg defends the kimura but Webb holds on to his arm and secures an arm-bar for force the submission.

Sam Alvey (18-4) v. Leo Kuntz (14-1-1)
Round 1- Kuntz lands a leg kick and shoots for a takedown. Alvey defends and lands punches. Alvey lands a huge right hook that knocks Kuntz out.
