TUF Brazil: Episode 12 notes and results – Ringside Report + Wrestling Uncensored

Episode 12- June 12, 2012
Hugo Wolverine (Team Vitor) will face Rony Jason (Team Wanderlei) in the featherweight semi-final on this episode. The winner will face Godofredo Pepey (Team Wanderlei) in the finals. Rony Jason was Team Wanderlei’s 1st pick, 1st overall in the draft. Hugo Wolverine was Team Vitor’s 2nd pick, 4th overall.
Rony Jason is shown training. Wanderlei says Rony Jason is a great guy and helps everyone. Wanderlei says he is the most complete fighter in the house in either weight class. Rony Jason believes Hugo Wolverine will want to box with him and won’t want to take it to the ground.
Hugo Wolverine is shown training. Vitor says Hugo Wolverine is a good guy and is a good masseuse who gives massages to everyone. Hugo Wolverine says he believes he will win by moving around and using his “firm hand”.
Rony Jason says he’s tired of cutting weight and dealing with people in the house. He wants to go home and see his wife and children.
Hugo Wolverine also misses his family.
The Nogueira brothers arrive wearing Team Vitor jerseys and meet with Team Vitor. The Nogueira brothers also visit with Rony Jason who is very happy to see them because he is part of Team Nogueira outside of TUF. Fabricio Werdum and Wanderlei Silva put a blue Team Wanderlei jersey on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Hugo Wolverine tells Daniel Sarafian that he is going to box with Rony Jason and look to land a big punch.
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua comes to the TUF Brazil house to meet with the fighters. The guys are all very happy to meet Shogun. Thiago Bodao says Shogun is his idol and was happy to meet him. Shogun comes to the fight and goes to Team Wanderlei’s locker room, wearing a blue jersey.
Hugo “Wolverine” Viana (5-0, Team Vitor) versus Rony “Jason” Mariano (10-3) TUF Brazil Featherweight Semi-Final
Round 1- Hugo Wolverine lands two jabs in the opening minute that saw very little action. Both fighters look to find their distance in the first 90 seconds. Hugo Wolverine pushes forward with a jab but Rony Jason lands a solid counter right hook. Rony Jason goes for a flying knee but misses and gets caught with two punches from Wolverine. Hugo Viana lands a big punch that drops Rony Jason but he quickly pops back to his feet. Rony Jason is accidentally poked in the eye and the fight is momentarily stopped. Hugo Wolverine lands a left hand but Rony Jason counters with a solid right. Wolverine lands a punch that drops Rony Jason but he gets back to his feet. Rony Jason swings in with wild punches but gets hit on the counter by Wolverine. Both fighters throw and land wild strikes in the final minute. Rony Jason lands a trip takedown in the final seconds but Wolverine avoids any dangerous position and gets to his feet as the round ends. I would score Round 1 for Hugo Wolverine: 10-9
Round 2- Rony Jason lands a push kick to the body but there are no other strikes landed in a lackluster first minute. Rony Jason lands a straight kick to the face and swarms on Hugo Wolverine with wild strikes and hurts him with a swinging punch and a flying kick to the body. Wolverine backs away and recovers and continues to circle his opponent. Rony Jason lands a jab but eats a straight right hand that cuts him below his left eye. Hugo Wolverine continues to circle but Rony Jason pounces on a single-leg and manages to take Wolverine to the ground. Rony Jason is unable to do anything with the position and Wolverine gets back to his feet. I would score Round 2 for Rony Jason: 10-9
Round 3- Hugo Wolverine lands a punch to the body but Rony Jason lands a solid knee to the body. Hugo Wolverine lands a leg kick but Rony Jason lands a right hook. Hugo Wolverine lands a solid two-punch combination but Rony Jason taps his chin as is to say “that didn’t hurt.” Wolverine lands an overhand right and a superman punch but takes a counter-punch to the face. Rony Jason lands a takedown in the final minute and pushes Wolverine into the fence as he tries to sit and get to his feet. Rony Jason lands solid knees to the body as Wolverine tries to get to his feet. The fighters clinch and separate as the round comes to an end. I would score a very close Round 3 for Rony Jason: 10-9
This fight was extremely close in every round.
