Episode 10- May 28, 2012
Daniel Sarafian (Team Vitor) versus Serginho (Team Wanderlei) is announced as the match-up for the TUF Brazil Middleweight Semi-Finals. Which means Thiago Bodao (Team Wanderlei) will face Cezar Mutante (Team Vitor) in the other semi-final. Sarafian was selected 3rd by Team Vitor, 6th overall in the draft while Serginho was selected 7th by Team Vitor, 14th overall. Bodao was selected 5th by Team Vitor, 10th overall while his opponent Cezar Mutante was selected 1st by Team Vitor, 2nd overall in the draft.
Bodao and Serginho were both originally on Team Vitor but were moved when the teams were re-divided on the last episode.
Hugo Wolverine (Team Vitor) versus Rony Jason (Team Wanderlei) and Pepey (Team Wanderlei) versus Rodrigo Damm (Team Vitor) is announced for the TUF Brazil featherweight semi-finals. Hugo Wolverine was selected 2nd by Team Belfort, 4th overall and Rony Jason was selected 1st by Team Wanderlei, 1st overall in the draft. Pepey was selected 6th by Team Vitor, 12th overall while Rodrigo Damm was selected 4th by Team Vitor, 8th overall.
Pepey was originally on Team Vitor but was moved when the teams were re-divided on the last episode.
Wanderlei says this fight will be tough for Pepey because Rodrigo Damm is a good fighter with very good wrestling.
Rodrigo Damm is crying in the TUF house because he has pain in his back and must go to the hospital. Cezar Mutante tells him to listen to his doctor and everything will be fine. Pepey says he hopes Damm returns to fight him in the semi-finals. Pepey says the weigh-ins are taking place the next day.
Rodrigo Damm returns from the hospital and says he has a kidney problem and cannot cut weight. Damm is forced to pull out of the semi-finals due to his medical condition.
Pepey believes the fair thing would be to allow him to advance to the finals by forfeit.
Vina Pancini is announced as the fighter who gets the opportunity to fight Pepey in the semi-finals. Pancini lost a very close 2-round decision to Hugo Wolverine on Episode 6. I scored the fight 19-19 and thought Pancini deserved another round, now he gets another fight. Vina Pancini was selected 5th by Team Wanderlei, 9th overall.
Pancini was originally on Team Wanderlei but moved to Team Vitor in the team realignment.
Pepey says money is good but he fights because he likes it. Pepey says he wants to be the best in his division in the UFC.
Vina Pancini says he win or lose this experience has made him feel like a winner in life.
Wanderlei Silva brings Burger King for his team for lunch at the TUF House.
Dana White is in attendance for the featherweight semi-final bout. The UFC president announces the semi-finals will be three rounds of five minutes instead of two.
Marcos Vinicius “Vina” Pancini (19-3, Team Vitor) v. Godofredo “Pepey” De Oliveira (8-0, Team Wanderlei) TUF Brazil Featherweight Semi-Final
Round 1- Pepey scores a takedown in the first 30 seconds and lands in Vina’s guard. Pepey lands some punches but Vina sweeps him to his back. Vina works punches from half guard while Pepey attempts a kimura. Vina escapes the submission attempt but Pepey rolls into a knee-bar attempt. Vina punches out of the attempt and continues to land punches from Pepey’s guard. Pepey looks for a triangle and arm-bar from the bottom, but Vina escapes and lands more heavy punches. Pepey rolls into a kimura attempt and gains the mount but Vina defends and they stand up. Pepey dives in for a knee-bar but Vina defends and lands punches from on top of Pepey on the ground. Vina takes Pepey’s back but Pepey escapes. Vina lands more punches and Pepey looks for a kimura as time expires. Dana White claps for the furiously paced and highly entertaining round. I would score Round 1 for Vina Pancini: 10-9
Round 2- Pepey lands a left hook and shoots in for a takedown. Pepey takes Vina down and works some punches from the guard. Vina defends Pepey’s passing attempt and pushes him back. Pepey fires back with a punch and passes into side-control. Vina sweeps Pepey and gets into his guard. Vina lands some punches from inside Pepey’s guard. Pepey looks for kimuras and sweeps but Vina stays heavy and keeps on top of him. Vina lands more punches but Pepey looks for a kimura that he uses to sweep into a mount. Pepey hangs on to the kimura and forces Vina to submit. Another fantastic fight on TUF Brazil.
Godofredo “Pepey” De Oliveira def. Marcos Vinicius “Vina” Pancini via submission (kimura) Round 2 to advance to finals of TUF Brazil Featherweight Tournament.
Pepey will fight the winner of Hugo Wolverine-Rony Jason on June 23 in Brazil at UFC 147.
