Episode 6. April 13, 2012.
Chris Tickle (7-4,Team Cruz) versus Joe Proctor (7-1,Team Faber) will be the fight on this episode.
Celebration in Team Faber’s locker room is shown from Michael Chiesa’s victory last week. Jeremy Larsen lost to Chiesa and is frustrated in the locker room post-fight.
Chris Tickle was drunk at the fights and is talking trash in the locker room after the fight. Dominick Cruz tells him to shut up and save it for his fight. Tickle tells Cruz to push him hard in training for the week leading up to the fight. Cruz says he likes Tickle but is perplexed by some of his antics.
Joe Proctor says he likes Chris Tickle but “a fight is a fight.”
Justin Lawrence says his teammate Chris Tickle is not taking advantage of the world-class training he is getting. Lawrence feels Tickle is not taking the opportunity as seriously as he should.
Mike Rio (Team Cruz) says his knee has good and bad days but today it’s sore and he can’t really move it. Rio and Justin Lawrence talk about the longevity of their fight career. Rio says he can fight for another 10 years, at 40 years old. Justin Lawrence believes he will be done fighting at 30 years old Lawrence is 21.
Dominick Cruz apologizes to Chris Tickle for telling him to shut up for talking trash. Cruz tells Tickle to do what he needs to do to get ready for his fight, even if it means talking trash.
Justin Lawrence and Mike Rio are sparring and Rio gets upset because Lawrence throws a kick that they agreed he would not throw. Dominick Cruz had told Lawrence not to throw spin-kicks. Lawrence and Rio exchange some angry words and spar even harder. Rio is shown arm-barring Lawrence and taking his back. Lawrence gets frustrated but Dominick Cruz says that is the point. Cruz wants Lawrence to be frustrated and challenged so that he may improve as a fighter.
Joe Proctor (Team Faber) is from Massachusetts and trains with Joe Lauzon. Proctor’s parents were both alcoholics and “drug abusers”. Proctor was raised by his grandparents, because his father went to jail and his mother wasn’t around. Proctor says his father has been clean for four years and they are now very close.
Proctor says he considers himself a ground fighter. Urijah Faber says Proctor is one of his “dark horses” and is very mentally strong.
The fighters in the TUF House are shown celebrating Easter Sunday. Some of the fighters are sad because they can’t spend the day with their families. Chris Tickle is cooking a turkey.
Chris Tickle says he loves to cook because he grew up with not a lot of family so instead he cooked for his friends. Tickle grew up in Pontiac, Illinois and calls it a “horrible, racist community.” Tickle says he was drinking a lot and in and out of jail before turning to MMA. He says “I found mixed-martial-arts and it saved my life.” Tickle says he taught himself jiu-jitsu by watching Youtube and never had a coach in his life. Tickle has a 7-year old son and a 6-month old daughter and he fights for his family.
Dominick Cruz says this is a crucial point in the competition because the teams are tied 2-2. Cruz says Tickle is “hit or miss,” depending on where his “brain is at.” Cruz says Tickle’s stand-up style is “sprawl and brawl.” Cruz says Tickle is very powerful and is a “beast” in the first round. Tickle says he likes to “stand and bang.”

Round 1- Tickle lands a jab and a leg kick in the first minute of the fight. Tickle charges in with punches and a head kick but is blocked. Proctor clinches Tickle and pushes him into the cage but Tickle reverses the position and pushes Proctor into the fence. Tickle lands some solid punches but Proctor breaks free and circles away. Proctor lands a right hook but eats some left hands from Tickle. The fighters clinch against the fence and Tickle lands an uppercut, but eats a knee. Proctor pushes away ands lands a takedown in the final minute of the round. Proctor takes Tickle’s back and grabs his neck but Tickle gets to his feet. Proctor hangs on to his choke and falls back down to the mat. Tickle tries to fight out of the rear-naked choke but is unable to escape and forced to tap out.
