Anarchy 1: Exile July 14th

Xtreme Combat Promotion and UFAI LLC make Vermont MMA history on July 14th by being the first to co-promote an event. Cathy Fitzgerald (XCP) and Chris Ballard (UFAI LLC) have joined forces to produce a super card unlike their individual events. Anarchy 1: Exile takes place at Collins Perley Complex in Saint Albans, Vermont. The amateur MMA event features a stacked 15-bout card with championship bouts in the Bantamweight, Featherweight, Lightweight,  Middleweight, and Light Heavyweight divisions, and much more as the card promises an action packed night for MMA fans.
UFC Bantamweight/Flyweight competitor Chris “Kamikaze” Cariaso (@chriscariasomma) (13-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC, 1-1 WEC, 2-0 SF) will be fighting against Josh Ferguson on July 11th on UFC on FUEL TV 4. Cariaso will be on hand for the festivities for a meet & greet at 5:30om prior to the event and will serve as a special guest judge. Cariaso will also be doing a seminar at UFAI1891 Williston Rd, South Burlington on Sunday, July 15th from 3:30pm-6:30pm $75 per person.
In the main event, reigning Featherweight champion Matt Durling (5-0) will be defending his title against undefeated Christopher Johnson (5-0). Durling splits his time between Contenders Gym and FLOW BJJ under the tutelage of Dan Caulfield and his boxing coach Joe Solonzaski. The 2011 Vermont Golden Gloves winner combines his prolific standup with his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills and wrestling experience he gained while attending Keene High School to be the well rounded fighter he is. His challenger, 22-year-old Chris Johnson plans on bringing the fight to him. With a background in boxing, Johnson started boxing at the age of 10 at Steve’s School of Boxing in Pennsylvania. In order to pursue an MMA career, Johnson knew he needed to train in wrestling, Muay Thai, Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, so he joined Combat Fitness in Winooski. With only 4-years of BJJ training Johnson won two championships at the Vermont Open BJJ competition in the 140lbs-150lbs Gi division. With an unblemished record Johnson wants to test his skills in various fight circuits, and would eventually own and operate his own MMA gym, but isn’t worrying about that at this moment. “I will win the fight by knockout or submission.” said Johnson. With both fighters possessing great skill sets, and both having yet to taste defeat, nor do each of the want to, this championship bout promises to bring fireworks.
The other four Anarchy championship bouts on the card will be to determine  inaugural champions. The Middleweight championship is up for grabs as knockout artist Alex Laush squares off against reigning and defending Burlington Brawl Middleweight champion Eric Bruno. Laush, the VMTA 185lb State Thai Boxing Champion, is a product of UFAI and most recently American Top Team in Coconut Creek Florida. Winning all four of his amateur Muay Thai bouts by knockout, and a semifinalist in the 2010 Southeast Asian Grappling Games in Phuket, Thailand he’s ready for his second amateur MMA bout. Known as one of the best fighters in the area, his opponent Eric Bruno trains out of Rail City MMA in Saint Albans under the tutelage of Tom Murphy and Orlando Quiroz. With only one blemish on his record in seven fights, Bruno has defended his Burlington Brawl Middleweight championship three times and plans to add more gold to his collection when these two Middleweights collide.
A Lightweight champion will be determined  as Northeast Assassin’s Tyler Jacques will take on “The All American Nightmare” Daniel J. Carpenter. A huge fan of Mike Tyson, Carpenter has been boxing since he could stand. He has Spent the last five years kickboxing with John Paris, and is also proficient Shotokan Karate under the tutelage of Tim Goad at Dynamic Defense DoJo in Newport. With 3-0-1 record Carpenter plans on keeping his win streak alive and capturing gold.  “I want to be the next XCP Lightweight champ and hope to go pro some time after that.” said Carpenter.  When he isn’t training or bashing heads in, Carpenter a father of three enjoys playing with his children Jordan, Corine and baby Ryan. With his children as motivation, Carpenter championship aspirations are unstoppable, but standing across the cage from  him is Tyler Jacques, who has other plans. Training with Kiel Santelli and Kevin Coon and the Northeast Assassins MMA team in Bennington, Vermont,  21-year-old Jacques fighting on the amateur circuit for 15-months. With only two blemishes on his record coming by way of judges decision, Jacques will ensure that the bout ends before ends that in order to claim the title.
Current Bantamweight champion Shamel Tyler will be out of action for a year due to an injury sustained while jumping out of the cage during his post fight celebration. With Tyler unable to compete, he was forced to relinquish his title and a new Bantamweight champion will be crowned. Current Burlington Brawl Bantamweight champion Jay McLean is slated to face “King” James McMillan;  However this bout is not officially confirmed.
Also not officially confirmed is the Light Heavyweight championship bout between Ross Hennessy and Justin Fitzsimmons. The 15-bout card also features Vermont MMA scene standouts Connor McKenna and Chris Rooney as well as two students of TUF Alumni and STRIKEFORCE veteran Marc Stevens in Montoyia Swilling and Jake Bohn training out of Jiu Jitsu Nation in Watertown, New York.
