The WWE Crown Jewel 2024, held at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, left fans with mixed feelings. Hosts Dave and Ben Simon, and Genesis, Johnny North, along with a lively audience tuning in from YouTube, Rumble, Twitch, and Kick, shared their thoughts on each match, the big moments, and what lies ahead as WWE gears up for Survivor Series War Games. Here’s a breakdown of their reactions and predictions.

Watch the replay above.

WWE Crown Jewel 2024 Highs and Lows: Key Matches of the Night

The event promised a lot, but reactions from the crew were lukewarm. “It was kind of a showcase,” said Dave, “but not a great one.” Crown Jewel matches often feel like a big deal, but according to Johnny, they don’t always deliver. “It’s just a glorified house show, a paid spot show,” he remarked, summing up the atmosphere many fans feel about these overseas events.

Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther was the main event and one of the most anticipated matches of the night. Cody took the win, but both Dave and Johnny felt it lacked the intensity that it could have brought. “They went through the motions,” Johnny observed. “It should’ve been epic, but it was just okay.” Conditions like the heat and humidity, reaching over 30°C, may have affected the wrestlers, but as Dave put it, “It’s all about the payday here.”

The Bloodline’s match was another big talking point. Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga defeated Roman Reigns and The Usos in a chaotic showdown with some unexpected twists. Sami Zayn’s interference, accidentally hitting Roman, added more tension to an already strained Bloodline dynamic. “This Bloodline stuff just keeps simmering,” Johnny noted, adding to speculations about an explosive face-off at Survivor Series.

Audience and Hosts React: Highlights and Lighter Moments

While the wrestling didn’t leave fans completely satisfied, the event still had its entertaining moments. “The crowd singing along to Randy Orton’s entrance was insane!” Dave said with a laugh. The crowd’s energy elevated the experience, even if the matches fell short.

One of the most memorable moments was Jimmy Uso’s late save during the Bloodline match. The delay led to an awkward pause, which Johnny called, “One of the funniest botches of the night.” It’s those unpredictable moments that keep things interesting, even if they aren’t planned.

Dave and Johnny rated the event pretty low overall, with Dave giving it around a five out of ten, Johnny slightly lower at four out of ten. “This was one of the weaker shows,” Dave admitted. They felt the best matches were the Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed bout and the LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes, and Andrade triple threat match for the U.S. Championship, where the wrestlers seemed to be giving it their all.

Looking Ahead: Predictions for Survivor Series War Games

With Survivor Series War Games just around the corner, there’s a lot of anticipation about what WWE has in store. The Bloodline storyline remains front and center, with potential for more drama. “I think Solo’s taking over as the Tribal Chief,” said Dave, reflecting on Solo’s clean win over Roman. “It’s time to acknowledge Solo.” This win could hint at bigger plans for Solo within WWE, possibly setting him up as a top contender.

The group also speculated on the potential for new alliances and rivalries. A notable call-out from Johnny was the idea of a three-way match between Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes at Survivor Series. “That would be wild,” he said, sparking excitement from the audience. And with Seth Rollins potentially gunning for Gunther’s title, Dave suggested that Survivor Series could set up Seth as a major player in the title picture. “Seth needs that win to solidify his spot,” he added.

The women’s division is also gearing up for Survivor Series with talk of NXT War Games matches for the women’s side, an idea Johnny thinks would bring more intensity to the division. “They should do something big with the NXT roster,” he noted, hoping for a match lineup that makes sense rather than one thrown together.

Final Thoughts on Crown Jewel 2024

WWE Crown Jewel 2024 was a mixed bag for Dave, Johnny, and Ben. The event had its bright spots, like the crowd’s energy and certain well-fought matches, but overall, it felt like a “spot show” — a big, flashy event that doesn’t quite impact the larger WWE storyline. Dave explained it best: “It’s like a mirage in the desert. Looks grand, but doesn’t add much to the bigger picture.”

The team hopes WWE brings its A-game for Survivor Series, especially with the War Games format. With tensions in the Bloodline, new rivalries heating up, and fan favourites like Cody and Seth looking for a win, there’s potential for an explosive show. “Here’s hoping War Games delivers,” Johnny said, speaking for fans eager to see more.

Sean Strickland Banned From the White House? UFC Vegas 118 Picks & PPV Dies in Canada

Belal Muhammad vs Gabriel Bonfim Preview + Sean Strickland’s White House War

No UFC champion has ever done what Sean Strickland is doing right now. Ten days before UFC Freedom 250 on the White House lawn, the two-time middleweight champion — fresh off handing Khamzat Chimaev his first loss — says he’s blacklisted from the event and is publicly torching it, trading vicious social media barbs with main eventer Justin Gaethje along the way. WWE Clash in Italy Results: Roman Reigns Retains, Sol Ruca Shocks Becky Lynch

WWE Clash in Italy delivered a solid premium live event from Turin — but the matches that were supposed to be the showcase underdelivered, the match nobody circled stole the night, and the most important wrestling moment of the entire weekend didn’t even happen on WWE programming. Roman Reigns beat Jacob Fatu in Tribal Combat and immediately forced his cousin back in line, with Solo Sikoa and the Tongas watching from ringside. Sol Ruca snatched the Women’s Intercontinental Championship from Becky Lynch. Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill had the best match on the card. Cody vs Gunther and Brock vs Oba Femi left plenty on the table. We break down every match, hand out grades, and lay out exactly where WWE goes from here.

UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House

Colby’s Gone, Dana’s Wrong, and UFC Freedom 250 Has Real Problems

Three stories are colliding in MMA right now, and none of them are particularly flattering for the sport. Colby Covington is out of the UFC after going once-a-year for five years and losing four of his last six — then finding himself off the White House guest list despite being Trump’s loudest MMA supporter for a decade. Trump’s actual favorite fighter? Khabib. UFC Freedom 250 is June 14 on the White House lawn with Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje and Alex Pereira vs. Cyril Gane, but the UFC is running its own judges with no government athletic commission in place, it’s going to be 80-plus degrees outside with insects swarming the lights, and 50,000 people are watching on outdoor screens nearby. And Dana White told Time magazine that people who talk about their mental health publicly are giving young men permission to be weak. It’s the most dangerous thing he’s said in years — and the most revealing.
