Renee Zellweger returns not only in her original role as Bridget Jones, but to the big screen after years on hiatus. Colin Firth returns as Darcy, but in a brief montage, you see how these two drifted apart from each other.
Deciding she needs a “good shafting” Jones attends a music festival where she meets love expert Jack (Patrick Dempsey) and despite her clumsy and brainless attitude, she definitely gets a long “shafting” from Jack.
Fast forward to a few days later and Darcy ends up realizing he wants her in bed, and regardless of the awkwardness Jones obliges, twice.
Needless to write, Jones was impregnated. Unfortunately, due to the closeness of her one night stands, she cannot figure out who the father is.
Although, far-fetched at first, Jones’s indecisions when it comes to tell both potential fathers the truth comes off as genuine. Her inability to choose who she wants to spend the rest of her life with raises questions of her character among her mom, doctor and cruel boss.
After you get through the Jones falling on her face scenes, embarrassing sexual encounters, and her lack of communication skills at certain points, there is a lot of charm to her energetic and spontaneous nature. Firth is class act as always and the addition of Dempsey only adds to the quality of the eventual confrontation.
Soundtrack felt like it had a bit of everything from different genres and different eras in music. Worth listening to again and buying individually.
