The game features many different modes of play, such as Road to WrestleMania, WWE Universe and WWE Storyline Designer. All three modes are unique in there own way; in
The Road to WrestleMania Mode you choose the WrestleMania paths of Christian, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, John Cena and you challenge the Undertaker as Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, or John Morrison in some very TV quality storylines. New to the game is the live WWE locker room, where you roam around interacting with superstars and divas unlocking the secret characters and legends of the game on your way to the grandest stage of the all.

In The WWE Universe Mode every action affects the results and angles of every superstar. For instance, if Edge defeats John Cena, they start a feud and interfere in each others matches bringing reasoning to the matches that you have, as opposed to winning several matches to gain a championship.

In the Storyline Designer Mode, you can create you own shows and matchups creating dream matches and feuds, or you can play pre-created storylines including Batista, Straight Edge Society and ECW.

Some of the Specialty matches have changed for better and for worse. In the Hell in a Cell match you must now perform a finisher at specific places around the cage to exit it. In Money in The Bank/Ladder/TLC matches it is easier to take done the contract/briefcase/belt no longer impossible or lengthy to acquire, and they’ve added more finishers off the ladder, including an Attitude Adjustment, RKO which is a plus. Finally all weapons are now interactive in the game, for instance if you perform a move beside a weapon, the opponent will sell the move as if he also hit the weapon. The producers did not put a lot of effort into the backstage areas, as the goal is to utilize your surroundings, yet some are impossible to use.

The game play is very similar to the past games, but changes have been to grappling move sets, with a standard arsenal as well as a groggy one change the way you play the game. In the corner you can now prop up you opponent on the top rope or put him in a tree of woe, as you could not before and the ring apron moves have slightly improved, but for the remainder of your in ring actions it’s status quo.

The only real problem with the game is that it’s dated; the game is missing a lot of current champions and members of the WWE roster. With no Nexus, Daniel Bryan, Kaval, Alberto Del Rio the game feels empty. Many other the superstars in the game are no longer on the active roster and were released by the company months before the game hit stores. I understand that superstars like Shad, MVP, Vance Archer and Luke Gallows were recently released, but Batista, Hurricane, and Finlay, are unnecessary.

Other than that the game is top notch and is highly recommended to any fan of the series.

WWE Superstars

Cryme Tyme versus The Hart Dynasty is the opening match for tonight’s episode of WWE Superstars. David Hart Smith works Shad over with some punches to start the match but catches a superkick and a pounce like manoeuvre by Shad. Tyson Kidd gets the blind tag but gets gorilla pressed and clotheslined out of the ring as we cut to a mid-match commercial break.When we come back, Tyson Kidd is in peril but executes a chop block on Shad and tags out to D.H. Smith. The son of the British Bulldog applies a beautiful leg grapevine with a bridge as The Hart Dynasty works over the left leg of Shad Gaspard. Kidd and Hart tagged in and out, using a variety of impressive submission holds to ground the bigger member of Cryme Tyme. Shad does manage to fight out of a leg lock to tag out to his partner JTG who knocks Kidd down with a series of clotheslines. Eve Torres and Natalya began to fight on the outside while JTG hit a nice backbreaker for the 1-2-3.

It’s now time for an in-ring promo from Intercontinental champion, Rey Mysterio. Mysterio says that he beat Chris Jericho and retained his title on WWE Smackdown. Rey Mysterio then spoke Spanish and thanked the fans for supporting him. Mysterio shows a clip of Dolph Ziggler attacking him after his title defence. Rey says that Ziggler attacked him from behind like a coward. Dolph Ziggler then came out to the entrance ramp with a microphone to face Mysterio. Ziggler introduced himself….again. He then said that no one will ever forget his name. Mysterio asked Ziggler if he thought he was the first guy to dye his hair blond, do some sit-ups and walk around like a peacock. Mysterio said that he’s been a wrestler his entire life and has beaten better than him. Ziggler did not believe that Mysterio could beat him. Rey invited him into the ring but Ziggler said that “if” he fights him it will be on his terms. Ziggler challenged Rey to defend his Intercontinental Championship against him at Night of Champions. Rey accepted his challenge and told him he was going to introduce him to the 6-1-9. Rey continued to dare Ziggler to enter the ring. Dolph began to walk down to the ring but decided against entering. Mysterio chased him around and into the ring, getting the better of the brief exchange until Ziggler hightailed out of the ring and out of sight. Good promo by Rey Mysterio. If Rey does not squash Dolph Ziggler at the pay-per view, he should take it as a personal insult….I will.

Katie Lea Burchill versus Brie Bella is the second match on the card. Brie accompanied as always by her identical twin sister, Nikki. Brie opens the match with a roll-up attempt and lands a nice flying-mare. Brie attempts a cross body block but gets caught by the Burchill who drops Bella into a backbreaker. Katie and Brie exchanged punches and Brie takes advantage with a clothesline and a dropkick. Katie Lea kicked Brie out of the ring and while the referee was distracted, Nikki dropped to the mat next to her sister. Both Bellas then entered the ring, the referee kicked on out and Nikki Bella scored the pin. The Bellas pull a switcheroo on Katie Lea Burchill and get the win.

Big Show versus United States champion, Kofi Kingston is the main event of tonight’s broadcast.Big Show hits giant chops, headbutts and walks over Kofi Kingston to start the match. Show hit a clothesline that almost took his head off and sent him crashing to the mat. Show hit another headbutt that knocked Kofi down and out of the ring, forcing the referee to begin a count. Big Show palmed Kofi’s head and lifted him onto the apron, pulled his top half over the rope and chopped Kingston into the ring. Big Show body slammed Kofi and taunted the wounded Kingston by looking down at him and saying “all night long.” Kofi fought back with some kicks and punches but hit the ropes and got caught in a side slam for a near-fall. Show whipped Kofi into the corner but he dodged and hit a series of kicks that sent Show into the corner. Kingston jumped onto Show’s shoulders but was dropped over his head and Kofi landed face first. Kofi fought back with more kicks and hit his “Bo! Bo! Bo!” elbow drop. Kofi attempted his Trouble in Paradise but Big Show tossed him aside and nailed a ChokeSlam for the 1-2-3. These two will do battle for the United States Championship at Night of Champions.
