Turning a beer gut into hard sculptured six-packed abs without countless traditional crunches can happen with determination, intensity and Jackie’s Warner’s new Crunchless Xtreme Abs DVD that includes two 15-minute workout routines.
Warner’s first abs workout is done standing while the second more challenging workout is done sitting. Like in her Personal Training With Jackie: Xtreme Timesaver Training, Warner’s workouts are short, but she will work you hard for the entire 15 minutes. Warmups and cooldowns are vital for these workouts to work properly. Consult a physician before exercise as the intensity of these programs can hurt you more than help you if your body has not been exercising for a long period of time.
Your obliques and all of your abs will definitely be sore after trying one of these workouts for a week. Start off with the standing workout because the floor workout will push your abs hard even if you’ve been working your abs before. The consistency Warner demands and the modified side bends and torso twists will not only make you sweat, but leave your entire core throbbing in agony—abs feel and look so much tighter after. Warner is a little forgiving as there are moments when you slow down the intensity, but it does not last long.
While Warner states that this is a crunchless DVD, she does use modified crunches—in the standing workout you sort of crunch while you have a free weight over your head—in the sitting workout when you do the elbow to knee exercise it pretty much requires crunching. Although her modified crunches are far more effective than standard crunches, be prepared for the pain.
Also returning from her Xtreme Timesaver DVD, Warner includes a modifier that shows how you can do the exercises at home without any free weights. Perfect for beginners who want to focus on form and lack the flexibility required from the standard routines. Learning to breathe correctly may seem easy until the longevity of the programs make it feel like 15 minutes is a long time. Be prepared to work more than just abs; quads, shoulders, back, and other muscles will be tested.
If you’re looking to get flat tight abs and do not have a lot of time three days a week, this DVD is for you. If you dread any form of crunches then you will want to skip over those exercises, but those are effective when it comes to definition. With the amount of exercises Warner demonstrates, one can make many variations to these workouts and continue to have a lean core for years to come.
