velascainThis is the 18th monthly installment of the Ringside Report official Top 10 MMA rankings. These rankings were revealed on the January 2, 2013 episode of Ringside Report Radio.

Cain Velasquez’ victory over Junior Dos Santos on December 29 moves him from second last month to first overall at heavyweight in January 2013. Junior Dos Santos drops from first in December to second in this month’s rankings. Roy Nelson’s victory over Matt Mitrione on December 15 moves him into the tenth spot in January from an honorable mention in December 2012. Shane Carwin’s inactivity and inability to compete on December 15 drops him out of the Top 10. 4th ranked Daniel Cormier is scheduled to fight Dion Staring on January 12. 5th ranked Josh Barnett is scheduled to face Nandor Guelmino on January 12. No other Top 10 heavyweights are scheduled to compete in January 2013.
