The WWE Championship belt, the WWE Tag Team belts, the United States belt and for the first time ever the WWE Women’s Championship belt and the WWE Diva’s Championship belt were unified. There is now no longer a WWE Women’s belt after that match, as WWE is now calling it the WWE Unified Diva’s Championship.
Night of Champions started off with a solid contest, as Dolph Ziggler, accompanied by his girlfriend Vickie Guerrero and NXT rookie Kaitlyn, defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship belt against former champion Kofi Kingston. This match was the end of a long feud between the two competitors, and there was an extra stipulation that if Ziggler lost by disqualification he would lose his belt.
The second match was the first ever non-title match ever in the history of Night of Champions, hometown hero CM Punk battled against the Big Show. Punk addressed his love and hate for Chicago before taking a pounding from the seven foot giant. Short, but enjoyable for what it was.
The Miz against Daniel Bryan has been a long student-versus-protégé war. Bryan finally got his chance to prove to the world on a big stage that he is superior to The Miz when it comes to wrestling. Also known as Bryan Danielson, fans of Bryan who have complained about the way he has been used in WWE should be more than satisfied with the outcome of this match.
For the second straight year in a row at Night of Champions, Melina squared off with Michelle McCool. This time it was a Lumberjills match and this time it was a unification match. With a major assist from Layla, McCool won the new championship belt and is now co-holder of the belt with Layla. Both of them must defend the belt on RAW and Smackdown.
Undertaker against Kane in a No Holds Barred match for the World Heavyweight Championship belt was a long awaited battle as Taker was coming back from being in a vegetative state at the hands of Kane. The match is mainly a brawl, but for the most part a one-side brawl. Kane is now taking advantage of the fact that Taker’s match at WrestleMania 26 took something out of Taker. Kane is finally stepping up and becoming the dominate force he was always groomed to be.
The WWE Tag Team Championship belts were defended in a five-team tag team turmoil match. This match showed the limited teams currently in WWE and the slow fall of the Hart Dynasty as a team. The match did help showcase a variety of talent in a short period of time.
The Six-Pack Challenge for the WWE Championship belt closed the show with a shocking outcome, but if you look at the cover you can tell that Randy Orton walked away with the belt. Regardless, the match is a unique contest that saw the top stars on RAW gang up on, and betray each other in order to become the main champion on RAW. Chris Jericho’s last PPV appearance for quite a while is shockingly brief.
