“Tito can talk about money or whatever else he wants to talk about, it’s a fucking crock of shit,” says UFC president Dana White on Tito Ortiz’s excuse for not fighting Chuck Liddell.

Ortiz and Liddell were once considered friends, but after Ortiz decided to not fight Liddell following Ortiz’s third victory over Ken Shamrock, a rivalry was created between the two.

Bad Blood documents the rise and fall of both Ortiz and Liddell’s careers in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and how their feud produced two of the most anticipated bouts in UFC history. Ortiz’s quest to dominate the light heavyweight division and Liddell’s drive to become the champion eventually led to a bitter falling out.

Ortiz believes that Liddell and himself should have gotten the big payday for their fight, but they were not getting it. White fires back against Ortiz saying the money was good back then. White says Ortiz backed out on the UFC and defending his title because Ortiz knew he could not beat Liddell. In training sessions Liddell says that Ortiz always came up with excuses for not wanting to spar with Liddell. In the end, Ortiz is made to look like a coward who only cares about himself while Liddell is shown as the face of the UFC in Ortiz’s absence.

With Liddell’s finance Heidi Northcott, his trainer Jon Hackleman, there is a more personal and in-depth look in Liddell’s life. While Ortiz talks about how he lost a friend and nearly died in a drive-by shooting, his wife Jenna Jameson gives no interviews and is only shown once in the background. Ortiz introduces two long-time friends, but they barely say anything. White is pretty much negative on everything Ortiz did to the UFC by costing them big money. White believes that Ortiz has no friends and only befriended Liddell in order to keep him away from his championship.

Ortiz talks about how he feels Liddell’s thumb to his eye in their first fight was the reason he lost. White states Ortiz could have poked both of Liddell’s eyes and it would have been the same result. Due to the anger White has towards Ortiz for hurting the UFC, White hunged Liddell’s glove and trunks, “in my fucking living room man. Those things hung in my living room forever.” Even after their two battles the two still waged war against each on UFC’s Ultimate Figher however there was never a third fight and Liddell’s career ended before there could be one.

Good versus evil could have also been the title of this DVD as the UFC portray Ortiz as a horrible selfish human being while Liddell was someone who just wanted to fight and get what he deserved. A great look at how both fighters worked their work into the UFC and made it to the top of their division. Depending on who you like will depend how much you like this DVD. Ortiz fans will definitely feel that this is an unfair look at Ortiz while Liddell fans will feel that the true story was finally told.

The return and fall of Brock Lesnar as Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Heavyweight Champion, the near defeat of Anderson Silva against Chael Sonnen, and another dominate year of Georges St-Pierre were just a few amazing UFC highlights of 2010.

UFC: Best of 2010 presents a documentary style look at 2010 through the weight classes, standout fighters, and memorable UFC headlines. The merger of the sister company World Elite CageFighting, aka WEC, the arrival of UFC pay-per-view events to new markets and the acceptance of mixed martial arts in new areas like Toronto, you get a clear picture that the UFC is growing and will continue their rise as a mainstream sports company.

B.J. Penn’s inability to solve Frankie Edgar and the questions circulating around Penn’s training regime are given a positive spin thanks to Penn’s jump back to welterweight and quick knockout win of UFC Hall-of-Famer Matt Hughes. Hughes is also given the spotlight due to the number of achievements in his career, records that are still not broken, and for his ability to still compete after a long UFC career.

Included in the 2010 year in review for the DVD edition is 13 full fights along with 10 full bonus fights. The difference in the blu-ray edition is that it has 38 full fights in total. GSP fans will want to see the blu-ray edition if they missed out on getting the UFC 124 DVD as GSP VS. Koscheck 2 is not featured on the DVD. Kimbo Slice fans also only get a chance to see the popular heavyweight on blu-ray. Both editions have Chuck Liddell’s final MMA bout against Rich Franklin.

2010 was one of the best years for UFC making their Best of 2010 DVD or blu-ray a great collector’s item. Also a great watch for fans that cannot get enough UFC and easily the best buy for fans that are new to the sport or missed out on a few UFC events. The best now, soon to be, and will be for years to come are well represented in this huge 2-disc set.

SAN JOSE, CA – Unbeaten light heavyweight Lorenz “The Monsoon’’ Larkin (8-0) will replace Satoshi Ishii and take on kickboxing specialist Scott “Lights Out’’ Lighty (6-1) on the STRIKEFORCE® Challengers card on Friday, April 1, at Stockton Arena in Stockton, Calif. The event, which is presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, will air live on SHOWTIME® at 11 p.m. ET.

Due to the recent natural disasters that struck Japan, Ishii, the 2008 Judo Olympic Games Gold Medalist, was unable to acquire a visa permitting him to leave his homeland in time for the fight. Taking his place is Larkin, a 25-year-old who has made quick work of his last five foes, winning all by stoppage inside three rounds. In his most recent outing, he registered a second round TKO over Mike Cook on Feb. 25.

“Lorenz is a talented, undefeated fighter whose aggression and power make him a threat in the light heavyweight division,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said. “He’s in for a tough test against Scott Lighty, who has trained with some of the sport’s best like Chuck Liddell. This is the biggest fight of his young career.”

Larkin agrees with Coker’s assessment and believes a win over Lighty in Stockton could propel him into the mix in the Strikeforce 205-pound division.

“This is definitely a step up for me, but I’m excited and looking forward to the challenge,’’ Larkin said. “Lighty’s a good fighter with a lot of experience. But I’ve trained hard, I’m in good shape and I’m confident.’’

In the televised main event, former NCAA wrestling standout and body builder Justin “The Silverback’’ Wilcox (10-3), of San Jose, will face Brazil’s Rodrigo Damm (9-4) in a lightweight bout. In other fights on SHOWTIME: Rapidly-rising David “Tarzan” Douglas (6-2), of Antioch, Calif., will take on Caros “The Future” Fodor (7-2), of Kirkland, Wash., at 155 pounds, Josh Thorrnburg (6-2), of Stockton, and James Terry (9-2), of Livermore, Calif., clash at 165 pounds and Antioch’s Damian Douglas (3-1), Tarzan’s unidentical twin, meets Wayne Phillips (5-3), of San Jose, in a welterweight battle.

From UFC: 97 in Montreal to UFC: 113 in Montreal, the most stunning and brutal KOs from 2009 to 2010 are highlighted. Chuck Liddell’s fight against Shogun Rua is one of the rare fights that is shown from start until Rua breaks through Liddell’s defence.

The majority of the fight recaps usually end with an explosive knockout, like Lyoto Machida’s KO on Rashad Evans at UFC: 98 to capture the UFC Lightheavyweight Championship belt. The buckling of Evans’ knees and the rolling back of his eyes made it clear to everyone that Machida just knocked out Evans right on his feet. Fights also usually end after a big hook or a sudden trip followed by nasty ground and pound action. Vitor Belfort versus Rich Franklin is one of the rare times that a fighter decided not to pound away because they knew their opponent was out cold already. However, in the Mir against Shane Carwin fight, Carwin was beating down on a limp Mir and looked up at the ref who did not try to stop it until after a couple more bombs nailed Mir in the back of his head.

The Marcus Davis against Ben Saunders fight is one of the few fights that ended thanks to a knee shot. Easily one of the bloodiest KOs on the DVD as Davis took more than one shot to fall to the ground and looked like he was a lifeless body. Included in the DVD extras is a near seven-minute montage for Ultimate TKOs in the UFC during that period of time. Watching Kimbo Slice taking his final beating in the UFC are among the highlights in the short featurette.

Fans of sudden finishes and do not necessarily enjoy watching long fights get to enjoy a part of mixed martial arts that not only pleases boxing fans, but fight fans as well. Two gladiators battling and when they are both evenly matched, to see a KO scored is truly an amazing sight to behold. Some fight endings might seem questionable, but make no mistake you see a fighter get rocked in every fight.

Buckets of sweat and sore muscles all over should be more than expected with The Pit workouts, even the original two-disc workouts will challenge your level of strength and conditioning.

On each disc, retired Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Chuck Liddell, who is the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion when the DVDs were filmed, introduces his trainer John Hackleman. Hackleman gives a brief description of each workout before demonstrating each one with his students. On the first disc Hackleman shows you an upper body workout and a lower body workout. On the second disc Hackleman shows you a complete body workout. The second disc also contains bonus material on stretching, handwraps, punches, kicks and combinations.

Before any workout you should make sure your body can handle the physical toll you plan to put it through. Even for advanced mixed martial art fighters these workouts can push your breaking point, as a lot of the routines require a lot of fast movements in a short amount of time and you will be working a lot of different body parts. Hackleman tells you in the beginning that you can do this at your own pace, but to get the true effectiveness of the workout, you need to keep up with the level of intensity Hackleman demonstrates.

Following a warmup and stretching exercises, the upper body workout starts off with going back forth between burpees and shadowboxing. Push-ups and punches drill will get your heart rate up as Hackleman has 11 different push-ups and you have to do the push-ups either a set of 20 or to the count of 30 seconds. Hackleman seemingly enjoys to lose count and that can make the drill a lot harder to do when you try to switch between push-ups and punches. Although this is a upper body workout Hackleman still has kicks in every one of his workouts.

In the lower body workout Hackleman starts off with knee bends with a kick that is not just good for cardio but good for stimulating a fight. Side kicks followed by a deeper squat with the knee bends really pushes your quads and flexibility. With Hackleman doing the routines he does not always catch how some of his students do not perform the drills properly. The front kick drill is a perfect example as one of the rare times Hackleman stands in the back of his students, he has to repeatedly ask for front kicks. Unlike in his Twenties DVD, Hackleman keeps a cool-head about it in a smirking moment.

Much like in the upper body workout, punches are in this workout with the focus first on power and later on muscle memory. Following some combinations and drills the focus shifts back to the lower body where Hackleman shows you the Christina position that is to be done along with freestyle leg kicks. If you feel pain in your gluts, expect that to be nothing compare to the 100 squats you have to do next.

‘The Pit Backjack’ is a unique exercise in the full body workout as every drill has to add up to 21. 20 push-ups and one squat thrust to start until you make it to one push-up and 20 squat thrusts. A lot of the drills in this workout are similar to ones in the latest Pit workout DVDs, but Hackleman also has abs drills in this one. This one is not as painful as the lower body workout, but it is longer and will push your cardio level just as hard.

While punching bags and jump rope can help, no equipment is required for any of these workouts. There is no doubt that these workouts will definitely get you into shape, improve your endurance and increase your striking power. It’s a shame that Liddell is only shown for a few seconds to introduce Hackleman, although Liddell is shown training on another DVD in the Master Boxset. This DVD set is a must have for beginning MMA fighters, for people just looking to lose weight, those looking for a challenge or if you want to get into better physical shape. Hackleman’s approach to working out is simple to follow and for the low price offered for just these two discs it’s one of the best deals you can find for workout DVDs.

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – The career of the greatest light heavyweight in UFC history has come to a close, as former UFC champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell’s retirement was announced Wednesday at the UFC 125 press conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“I want to thank Frank (Fertitta), Lorenzo (Fertitta), and Dana (White) for everything they’ve done for me over the years, and the sport. Most of all I want to thank my fans and my family,” said an emotional Liddell. “I love the sport and I’m excited to go into a new stage in my life and keep promoting the best sport in the world, the sport I love.”

That new stage will begin immediately, as UFC President Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta have brought Liddell aboard as the organization’s Executive Vice President of Business Development.

According to Fertitta, Liddell’s duties will include work on fighter relations and government regulation, but he will mainly focus on new business development for the UFC, an organization he has fought for since 1998.

Over those last 12 years, Liddell was a feared striker who ruled the 205-pound weight class with an iron right hand, and in doing so became mixed martial arts’ first crossover superstar. During his reign of terror over the UFC’s light heavyweight division from 2004 to 2007, he compiled a seven fight unbeaten streak that included knockout wins over world champions Randy Couture (twice) and Tito Ortiz (twice), as well as respected contenders like Renato “Babalu” Sobral and Jeremy Horn.

A world champion from April of 2005 to May of 2007, Liddell was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in July of 2009.

“He’s been more than a friend, more than a fighter, and more than a champion,” said White. “This is a big deal for us.”

1600 minutes of bloody wars, sudden knockouts, and some of the most historic fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship are a few of many reasons why the UFC: The Ultimate 100 Greatest Fights is a must buy.

Voted by mixed martial arts fans online last year, this re-package box set is now in 1.78:1 aspect ratio on DVD and is also available on Blu-ray. Unlike the highlights of fights that aired on Spike TV, this box set gives you the complete fights.

From UFC 1 to UFC 98, there is a wide variety in fighting styles and how UFC has evolved from their days of No Holds Barred fighting. Legendary UFC fighters like Chuck Liddell, Royce Gracie, Tank Abbott along with current stars Brock Lesnar, Georges St-Pierre, BJ Penn and Randy Couture are just a few of the fighters featured. Liddell, Matt Hughes, Matt Serra, GSP, Rich Franklin, are featured more than most fighters due to their well-known rivalries and memorable moments inside the octagon.

From Serra’s explosive KO on GSP, to GSP evolving his game and outclassing great warriors like Penn, Serra and Hughes, the history of not only the UFC unfolds, but a lot of their stars as well. Liddell’s dominance inside the cage, delivering phenomenal KOs and gruelling fights, is followed by the slow decline in his career as he became much easier to KO. Penn’s amazing encounters against Serra, Caol Uno, Carl Stevenson and others, is followed by Penn being described as being lazy when it comes to his fights later on in the set.

Due to the selective bouts that fans could vote for, there can be many debates questioning if this is truly the 100 greatest fights in the UFC and debates on the exact order. Regardless, there are so many different types of fights; some are quick, some are long brutal blood pouring marathons, and some are methodical chess games that sometimes end fast or go the distance. You may not get every great fight, but there’s no other collection that comes close to giving you your money’s worth.

Hardcore fans will love to look back on some of their favourite fights and perhaps see a couple of fights they missed out on. New fans to MMA will get the full education lesson on what the UFC has produced for 16 years.
