TNA Hard Justice 2009

TNA Hard Justice begins with an Asylum match between Suicide, The Motor CityMachineGune, Amazing Red, Lethal Conequences, Chris Daniels and the debuting”Pope” D’Angelo Dinero aka Elijah Burke. This match promises to be a high flyigcar crash. Elijah Burke comes out dressed in a black suit and some funky music.Don West talks about Dinero and his interesting point of view. There are 8 menin this match and to win you must climb through a hole in the top of the cageand maybe grab something ..like an X? The Guns and Lethal Consequences hitseveral of their double-team spots in the early parts of this match. Chris Daniels hit Chris Sabin with a nice top rope body slam. Sabin quickly woke upand tossed Suicide onto someone who was tied up in a tee of woe. The cameraangles for this cage make it dissicult to see the action inside the rng.Daniels continued his tope rope slam-fest by back droping Lethal off the cagefor a big bump on the mat. Elijah Burke or…D’Angelo Dinero speared ChrisDaniels off the top rope for a big crash. Bodies began to fly after this. Sabinand Shelley bounced around and hit another intricate and unbelievabledouble-team move. All 8 men took turns hitting high-spots…one guy hitting abig bump then getting ready to take the next guy’s big move, ridiculouswrestling. It’s hard to make sense out of an 8 man Asylum match. Suicide hungfrom the top of the cage and Dinero powerbombed him off for a big crash butinstead of exiting the cage, Dinero followed up to his attack of Suicide whichwill no doubt lead to his first TNA feud. Chris Daniels then took advantage andmercifully ended this match. He didn’t even have to grab an X! Daniels now”earns” an X division title shot at their next pay-per-view, No Surrender.

Ringside Report Belt

Thirty-five minutes into the three hour show, we finally have our secondmatch and it’s Abyss versus Jethro Holiday aka Trevor Murdoch. Abyss beatJethro around the ring with punches and forearms until “Dr.” Stevie Richardscame to ringside with a stick for Holiday. Jethro hit Abyss with that stick andtried to hit him with a chair but got kicked in the face instead. StevieRichards went crazy on the outside of the ring and slid weapons in for Holidayto use. I don’t get it if the match is no disqualification and he can useweapons…why doesn’t Stevie enter the ring? Abyss hit his Black Hole Slam onJethro Holiday to wrap this one up. Stevie Richards entered the ring after thematch to verbally berate Jethro Holiday and get punched out by him.

Big Rob Terry is next in the ring to defend his stolen Feast or Firedbriefcase that contains a World title shot against Hernandez. Basically, thewinner of this one will be in line for a TNA title shot. Hernandez cut a promobefore the match to say that he is a Latino-American because he has family inthe U.S. and in Mexico. Hernandez says that his family was insulted and therewill be no match tonight. Hernandez then invites Doug Williams, Brutus Magnusand Rob Terry into the ring so he can fight them all for his briefcase.Hernandez clears the ring of the rest of the British Invasion, hits a shouldertackle on Rob Terry to get the 1-2-3. So, Rob Terry really can’t work…at all?

British Invasion members Doug Williams and Brutus Magnus defend their IWGPtag team titles against Beer Money. James Storm spent most of the match in thering for his team. Storm had and Roode had full control in the early part butthe British Invasion cheated to hit some of their double team moves and takethe offense to James Storm. Robert Roode got the tag and beat up Williams andMagnus. Beer Money hit a double suplex on Magnus and another double team moveon Williams for a near-fall. Eric Young slid one of the IWGP tag belts into thering for Magnus to hit Robert Roode behind the ref’s back and Williams scoredthe pinfall for the win. The British Invasion retain the IWGP tag team titles.

ODB and Cody Deaner versus Angelina Love and Velvet Sky for the TNAKnockouts title was actually a match on this pay-per view. Love and Sky tookturns beating on ODB to start this out until Deaner got the tag and literallyspanked Sky around the ring. This was a low-point…even for pro wrestling.Velvet’s mostly-exposed posterior was beet red for the rest of the match…thismatch gets worse as time goes on. Deaner got back in the ring and forcedhimself upon the Beautiful People with several kisses. Don West had a good linewondering whether this match was “Memphis Rules!” Puppies anyone? Love and Skydid get some revenge with some kicks to Deaner’s face but Madison Rayneaccidentally sprayed Sky instead of Deaner. Cody then rolled up Velvet Sky towin the TNA Knockouts title for ODB. Cody did take the title with him after thematch and teased wanting to be the Knockouts champion…kind of like Santinowas Miss Wrestlemania? Velvet Sky and Angelina Love got into Madison Rayne’sface after the match.

Samoa Joe challenging Homicide for the X division title was a hard foughtback-and-forth match. Joe hit his Suicide dive to the outside, Homicide hit oneof his own. Homicide teased the Grningo Killer bt Joe escaped and locked in hisCojita Clutch chokehold and the champ gave up. That was a very quick match thatshould have been given more time. Why did The Beautiful People match get moretime than this? Poor time-management or poor wrestling booking?

Team 3D cleared Booker T and Scott Steiner out of the ring to start offtheir TNA tag team title match. 3D chased Steiner and Booker up the ramp as thechamps tried to exit. Bubba Ray paired off with Steiner and Booker fought D-Vonthrough the crowd as both teams brawled around the Impact Zone in Orlando. Thismatch is apparently falls count anywhere so Steiner got a 2 count on BubbaDudley on the arena floor after hitting him with a chair. Steiner impressivelyclimbed onto a bleacher wall an dove off to land on Bubba for another 2 count.Very rare do we see a big dive from Scott Steiner. When the match finallyspilled back into the ring, Team 3D hit a Doomsday Device on Steiner. Team 3Dset up a table but Booker T hit a BookEnd on Bubba to put him through thetable. Team 3D got a 3D on Booker T but Steiner rolled up Bubba while D-Von wascovering. There were two referees in the match and they both counted threesimultaneously. The referees then “reviewed the video footage,” and “decided,”that Scott Steiner and Booker T had won to retain their TNA tag team titles.Very strange finish to this match. If you’re going to give the belts back tothe heels why even give Team 3D a claim for the titles? This feud will mostlikely continue.

Mick Foley beat on Kevin Nash with punches to start off his defense of theTNA Legends title. Foley attempted a double-arm DDT but Nash pushed Foley outof the ring. Foley tried to pull Nash out by his feet but Kevin Nash kickedFoley who smashed into the steel ring barricade. Nash hammered on Foley butMick got a chair and assaulted Nash. Foley attemptedhis elbow drop off the ringapron to a downed Nash on the outside but Nash blocked with the steel chair.Foley crashed hard and was rolled over to reveal a cut above his
left eye that
was gushing blood all over his face. Nash capitalized with several punches,
beating a wounded Foley. Mick managed to mount a comeback sporting the crimson
mask and beat on Nash to bust open Big Sexy. Foley punched Nash in his head as
the blood continued to poor and cover Nash’s face. Mick Foley went under the
ring to find a barded-wire baseball bat but Traci Brooks raced to ringside for
the distraction. Nash hit Foley with a boot to the head that knocked Traci off
the apron. Nash then scored the 1-2-3 on Foley and teased using the bat on
Foley. Abyss came out to make the save with a bared-wire bat of his own. Abyss
with Mick Foley? Will this finally turn into the feud where Mick destroys the
Abyss character for ripping off Mankind? Either that or Mick is going to try
and teach Abyss how to cut better promos. Great match by Mick Foley and Kevin
Nash. Did not expect Nash to bleed tonight.

It’s now time for Kurt Angle to defend his TNA Heavyweight Title in a triple
threat match against Matt Morgan and Sting. Angle was legitimately arrested
yesterday morning and it would be surprising to not see him lose the belt as a
result. Kurt Angle and Matt Morgan worked together but Sting managedto knock
Angle out of the rng and work over Morgan. Sting locked in a Scorpion DeathLock
on Angle but Morgan jumped on the apron and forced Sting to push him off. Angle
hit an Angle Slam for a 2 count and attempted an Ankle Lock but Sting reversed
and tossed him out of the ring. Matt Morgan came in and started to work Sting
over. The Morgan and Angle alliance predictably came to an end and they fought.
Sting and Matt Morgan each hit finishers for 2 counts but Kurt Angle entered
the ring with a chair, hit Morgan and scored the pinfall to retain his title.
TNA decides to keep their heavyweight title on a man currently facing prison
time. Interesting move even though Kurt Angle is the best in the business, itmay not be best for business to let him carry the belt right now. Good matchthough, Angle always delivers.
