The Clock family are miniature compared to average humans, but they do reside inside a house, much like bugs. With their youngest daughter, Arrietty, venturing out on her own in dangerous areas, her father decides it is time for Arrietty to join him on his borrowing adventures.

In order for The Clocks to survive they borrow from the humans. Arrietty’s first experience goes well until a sick human boy named Shawn spots her. This starts off a friendship between the two, however their families constantly put up obstacles due to the secret nature of little people.

Unlike a lot of animated films, this one does not take long to get into the true fantasy of this story. The Clocks are shown very early allowing for a greater understanding of the difficult survival of the fittest environment The Clocks are in. Shawn’s bad heart condition is also a major part of the movie, but the true focus is on Arrietty and keeping her family from getting eaten by a cat or captured by humans.

There are two major musical songs that bring a lot of powerful emotion to the screen several times throughout. Not your typical Disney sing-a-long type songs, but due to the anime style of the film it is just to add some life to key moments.

It’s not a new story and there is no evil antagonist, but highly enjoyable for fans of artistic backgrounds. Even in the darkest places of the house in between the cracks there is a lot of fine detail put into each broken nail and brick. A great watch for families on a weekend.

Star Wars-like air battles in World War II, battling the adversities of being coloured in a white man’s war, only two of many compelling reasons to check out the new action film Red Tails.

Based on true events, a group of African American pilots situated in 1944 Italy are given flight missions that never sees them in heart of the battlefield. ‘Easy’ (Nate Parker), ‘Lightning’ (David Oyelowo), ‘Joker’ (Elijah Kelley) and ‘Junior’ (Tristan Wilds), is the Red Tails squad focused on throughout. Easy is the leader of the group, but Lightning is the best pilot and likes to do his own thing.

Easy and Lighting are best friends, but they are at odds with each other due to Lightning not respecting authority. Lightning’s carefree lifestyle leads him to a beautiful woman Sofia (Daneila Ruah) who he falls deeply in love with despite their different languages. Lightning also discovers that military bars are off limits to negros. Lightning does not take that well and ends up in a fight nearly canning all of the Red Tails.

Eventually, thanks to the persistence of Colonel A.J. Bullard (Terrence Howard), the Red Tails finally get a chance to prove themselves. Executive producer George Lucas delivers in the CG fighter battle graphics. Fast-paced and explosive best describes all the action. The Red Tails are nearly unstoppable against the Germans, though their own personal demons put them in serious risk.

At times the lines can be cheesy, but can also be funny and inspirational. The emotional roller coaster of friends battling each other and the racial tension runs high. Many times the air battles seem unrealistic as the Red Tails defeat so many enemies without losing a single old plane. Fun for the fights in the air, but the story can be silly and goofy at times.

This Weekend in Fights! (November 12th) held the most important event in the UFC’s history with their first historic broadcast on FOX. With a network television deal the begins in 2012, the UFC introduced their product to the mainstream world with a 64 second bout that determined a new UFC Heavyweight Champion in Junior Dos Santos.

Although, the weekend was over shadowed by UFC on FOX, two other MMA events went down, with Bellator 57, as they determined the finalists to both their Welterweight and Middleweight tournaments and Shark Fights 21 which was headlined by Bobby Lashley. On the boxing side of things Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez met for the third time.

The weekend kicked off with Shark Fights presenting their 21st event which was heldlined by former WWE Superstar and STRIKEFORCE fighter Bobby Lashley. Lashley utilized his submission training with Josh Barnett, as he made short work of his third replacement opponent Karl Knothe with an Americana in the very first round. (Full Shark Fights 21 results below.)

The UFC made their network television debut on FOX with a whole new feel, semi different look and the FOX NFL music in the background that really gave the UFC a legitimate sports look. Of the 11 bouts on the card only one fight was on the FOX broadcast it it only lasted 64, as challenger Junior Dos Santos landed a big right on the the temple of then champion Cain Velasquez buckling him down to the canvas, and ended it with relentless ground and pound as Big John McCarthy called a halt to the fight. With the knockout, Dos Santos was crowned the new UFC Heavyweight champion of the world and received the knockout of the new bonus. In the last fight prior to the broadcast, Benson Henderson has punched his ticket to a title shot against the lightweight champion Frankie Edgar after winning a three round decision over Clay Guida. (Full UFC on FOX 1 event results below.)

Bellator made its second venture into the great white north in Rama, Ontario for Bellator 57. The event determined the the new number one contenders in both the middleweight and welterweight divisions. Although a huge underdog against Ben Saunders; Douglas Lima proved the odds makers wrong in the second round when he ducked under a lead left from Saunders and knocked him out with solid right hand. Alexander Shlemenko won his second Bellator middleweight tournament with a decision victory over Vitor Vianna. (Full Bellator 57 event results below.)

In the boxing realm WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and WBO/WBA lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez duked it out for 12 rounds in a very close bout that saw Pacquiao barely edging out a decision. This bout was highly contested, with a little bit of controversy as many believe the bout could have gone either way or a draw. Marquez definitely challenged Pacquiao which has been rare recently, and fans finally saw a mortal side a Pacquiao. (Full Pacquiao vs. Marquez III event results below.)

UFC 138 was headlined by the first ever non-title five round bout, featuring Mark Munoz and Chris Leben in Middleweight action. Munoz didn’t need all five rounds though and he picked apart Leben with superior technique, and a smart game plan. Munoz refuse to fight a “Leben Style” slugfest, and tactically used a combination on stand up strikes, wrestling and ground and pound, cutting Leben open so badly that the action was stopped after the second round, as Leben couldn’t see anything out of his left eye forcing he doctors to end it.

Three back to back rear naked choke submissions finishes ended the other main card bouts, as Renan Barao, Thaigo Alves, and Anthony Perosh all finished their bouts. In the semi main event Barao completely destroyed Brad Pickett, capitalizing with the choke after dropping him with a combination of punches. Alves made short work of then undefeated Papy Abedi, dropping him early and following up with some vicious elbows in the full mount position. Abedi then gave up his back and was forced to tap. Anthony Perosh, use wrestling to his advantage and exposed Cyrille Diabate one dimensional fighting style, by grounding him and ending it in the second round.

Also on the card Michihiro Omigawa finally got his first victory in the UFC and Che Mills had an impressive outing with a 40 second knockout of Chris Cope. (Full UFC 138 event results below.)

Ryan Martinez defeated Mark Ellis, Jake Heun defeated Ed Carpenter, Cody Griffin def.

Over 300 monsters to battle, collect, and breed from almost every Dragon Quest game ever made is the main attraction to the new Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 for Nintendo DS.

The story picks up with the hero hiding in a crate as a smuggler on an airship. Discovered by a monster, you must pay your fare as a deckhand, introducing you to the first few characters. After a sudden crash you awake on an island and must use skills as a monster scout to gain monsters to help you get through the island and find all the passengers.

This is a classic turn-based style role-playing game that plays a lot like Dragon Quest games. However, this time around you can combine your monsters once they reach a high enough level. You control three monsters at a time with three monsters also in your reserves. While the use of every monster from the series is impressive, there are still more impressive monsters to battle–boss monsters can take up the entire two screens on the DS. With the emphasis now on abilities, having similar monsters will not create an equal fight as their skills and weaknesses can be completely different.

This game is a bit more complex for monster hunting compared to games like Pokemon. Low health does not mean you’re going to catch a monster in this game, it depends on your having a high level and if the monster is angry. There are also effects to not catching a monster as it can become tougher to fight. Skills and abilities come in handy to catching and can make the game quite easily if you build up your monster right. The game also heavily pushes you to combine your monsters as they have the potential to be stronger with a better skill set.

Without question you will need to do a lot of training in order to get far and complete the story. Far from the best Dragon Quest title ever made, but definitely a fun different experience with nice plot twists and graphics that kept true to the series. The ability to keep playing on and training your monsters once the credits are over should keep the demand for friend battles online for quite a while.

Roland Delorme’s foot is extremely swollen because he has staph infection. He is in pain and on antibiotics. He is fighting TJ Dillashaw in the final bantamweight quarter-final. He wants to fight and does not want to have spent five weeks in the house for no fight.

Rafael Cordeiro, renowned coach and founder of Chute Boxe helps Team Mayhem train as a guest of Jason Miller.

Tito Ortiz comes to help train Team Bisping as a guest of Michael Bisping.

Marcus Brimage, Akira Corassani, Diego Brandao and other members of Team Bisping are upset with TJ Dillashaw for taking what they deem an easy fight (Roland Delorme) and dodging a more difficult match-up (John Dodson). Brandao and Corassani say they are going to teach Dillashaw a lesson in their sparring sessions.

Diego Brandao is shown making TJ Dillashaw submit to a variety of moves in sparring. Akira Corassani and TJ Dillashaw go very hard in their sparring session and Dillashaw lands a big double-leg takedown that appears to hurt Corassani. Dilashaw continues to work tough in his sparring with Marcus Brimage and they get into an argument. Bisping has to break up Brimage and Dillashaw.

Bisping says that Corrassani told him that their plan was to knock out Dillashaw. Bisping says that it was very wrong.

Roland Delorme is medically cleared to fight after being sick for a week.

Bisping says TJ Dilashaw is “the most complete mixed-martial-artist on the whole show.” Clips of TJ Dillashaw hitting a heavy bag are shown.

Jason “Mayhem” Miller puts cement barricades around Team Bisping assistant coach Tiki Ghosn’s truck to box him in. Ghosn laughs it offs and does not seem concerned.

Roland Delorme says he sold his restaurant to come on the show. His restaurant was located just outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Roland Delorme (6-1) v. TJ Dillashaw (4-0) (Bantamweight- Quarter-Final)

Round 1- TJ Dillashaw lands a single-leg takedown in the first minute and lands some punches as he passes from guard into side-control. Delorme gets back to his feet but gets taken down again. Dillashaw continues to work his ground and pound but can’t do very much damage. Delorme remains active on his back and gets back to his feet but is immediately taken back down. Dillashaw attempts a choke and Delorme gets to his feet with one minute remaining in the round. Delorme lands punches but has a takedown attempt reversed and is brought down to the mat with Dillashaw on top as the round ends. I would score Round 1 for TJ Dillashaw: 10-9.

Round 2- Dillshaw drops Delorme with a straight right hand as soon as the round starts and continues to punch him on the ground. Delorme tries to recover and takes more big punches and elbows to the face. Dillashaw works more ground and pound and is able to secure a rear-naked choke on a beaten Delorme.

TJ Dillashaw def. Roland Delorme via submission (rear-naked choke) Round 2

All the semi-finalists are set. Team Mayhem has five and Team Bisping has three. Which means two Team Mayhem members will have to fight each other.

Dana White, Michael Bisping and Jason Miller all sit in a room to ask each fighter who they want to fight in the semi-finals.

TJ Dillashaw wants to fight Dustin Pague. John Dodson wants to fight TJ Dillashaw or Johnny Bedford. Dustin Pague wants to fight John Dodson. Johnny Bedford also wants to fight John Dodson.

Akira Corassani and Dennis Bermudez want to fight each other. Diego Brandao wants to fight Bryan Caraway. Bryan Caraway wants to fight Akira Corassani and wants to wait to fight Diego Brandao in the finals.

Jason Miller and Michael Bisping agree and tell Dana White that they want to see Bryan Carway versus Diego Brandao and Akira Corassani versus Dennis Bermudez

Dana White announces the semi-finals.

TJ Dillashaw (Team Bisping) versus Dustin Pague (Team Mayhem) (Bantamweight semi-final)

John Dodson (Team Mayhem) versus Johnny Bedford (Team Mayhem) (Bantamweight semi-final)

To be or not to be has never been more appropriate in Anonymous, a movie introducing the theory that William Shakespeare never wrote any of his plays, it was the 17th Earl of Oxford.

Rhys Ifans stars as the Earl nobleman named Edward who charmed Queen Elizabeth (Joely Richardson as young Elizabeth I) as a child with a play. Edward is groomed to become a master swordsman and taught all the languages of the land. However, due to the blasphemy that comes from writing, Edward is told he cannot be an artist. Secretly Edward continues his writing that slowly creates a world of passion and chaos.

Shakespeare (Rafe Spall) is portraying as a bumbling fool of an actor that was given all of Edward’s writings because the man Edward wanted to take credit for all of his work, Ben Jonson (Sebastien Armesto), did not feel that Edward’s work was his voice as a writer. While Shakespeare becomes popular, Edward battles with trying to overcome the politicians trying to put in the right person to succeed Elizabeth (Vanessa Redgrave) creating a massive rebellion.

Starting off as an actual play been shown in a Broadway type setting, the movie can be difficult to understand at first–there are three jumps through the timeline in the first few minutes. There are many characters, many issues, many twists and turns you need to be in-tuned to every scene or you can quickly become lost. The use of Romeo & Juliet, MacBeth, and other Shakespeare credited classics, are used nicely in a short montage.

While many may not believe that Edward’s poetic touch is the true creator of all the poems and sonnets that Shakespeare is credited for, in the end you do get a very entertaining political drama. War, romantic, betrayal, loyalty, and greed are all present in a power struggle for the throne. This movie features Shakespeare, but he is merely a small player in a much bigger conflict.

Anonymous

Rated PG-13

Columbia Pictures

Directed by Roland Emmerich

Now in theatres
