Ringside MMA 10 took place on Saturday night at Bell Centre. Patrick Cote scored a unanimous decision win over Kalib Starnes in the main event. Ultimate Fighter season 11 contestant Seth Baczynski became the new Ringside MMA interim welterweight champion with a victory over Alex Garcia in the co-main event. Mitch Gagnon handed Rejean Groulx his first loss with a third round submission defense of his featherweight title.
Valerie Letourneau and Julie Malenfant were apprehensive to commit in the first round and landed very few strikes but Letourneau landed a solid kick to the body that dropped Malenfant in round 2. Letourneau then scored two punches before the referee intervened to stop the fight and give Letourneau the TKO victory.
Lenard Terrance scored vicious head-kick that knocked Robert Masson unconscious for the first round finish. Terrance appeared to have injured his foot with the knockout kick as it was severely bruised and may have been broken.
Kevin Morin was able to control the action in the first round with a takedown and some ground and pound of Guillaume Lamarche. Morin landed another takedown in the second round but Lamarche almost secured a kimura-armbar but time ran out in the period. Morin landed another takedown in the third round and scored with several heavy punches while standing in Lamarche’s guard. Morin continued to ground and pound Lamarche as time expired in the final round. The judges awarded the fight to Kevin Morin via unanimous decision.
Mike Ricci landed a slick take-down and followed up with some heavy punches and elbows from the mount position to score the TKO victory over Jesse Ronson in the first round.
Derek Gauthier and Iraj Hadin battled for three round. The first round was hard fought on both sides but Gauthier seemed to slow down in rounds two and three, opening the door for Hadin to control the action. The judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 all in favour of Iraj Hadin.
Roger Hollett was on top of Martin Desilets for the majority of the first round with Desilets struggling to get off his back. Roger Hollett took advantage of a tired Desilets and rocked him with a heavy right hand then hammered another right hand that knocked him out in the second round.
Rejean Groulx and Mitch Gagnon had a fast-paced back and forth first round that electrified the Bell Centre crowd. Gagnon nearly secured a rear-naked choke and an arm-bar in the round and both fighters exchanged flurries of punches. Gagnon scored a takedown early in the second round and was almost able to secure a rear-naked choke but Groulx was able to reverse position and escape. Groulx attempted his own rear-naked choke but was unable to submit Gagnon as the time elapsed in the second round. The high-paced grappling resumed in the third round with Mitch Gagnon attempting a rear-naked choke but Groulx escaping and almost securing a kimura. Gagnon picked up Groulx and slammed him to the mat, and Groulx landed har don his head. Groulx immediately covered up and was hit with a few punches before tapping out due to strikes.
Alex Garcia and Seth Baczynski had a hard-fought first round with Garcia landing a big slam but Baczynski ending the round striking from the mount. Baczynski and Garcia threw wild hands in the second round and Baczynski was left bleeding. Garcia took Baczynksi down but Baczynksi was able to reverse the position and score some heavy hands from the guard of Garcia. After a few big punches, Garcia was rendered unconscious and the referee intervened. Seth Baczynski scores the victory, handing Alex Garcia his first professional loss and winning the interim Ringside MMA welterweight championship.
Kalib Starnes controlled the entire first round with a takedown and immediately took the back of Patrick Cote and tried to sink in a rear-naked choke. Cote survived the position and the first round and landed some heavy punches the second. Cote controlled the pace of the second round and landed some big elbows from the guard of Starnes after a takedown. Cote countered a takedown attempt in the third round and landed on top of Kalib Starnes to continue his ground and pound assault from the guard. Starnes was able to improve his position and get to his feet but was unable to land anything significant as time expired in the final round. The judges scored the fight unanimously for Patrick Cote in his Ringside MMA debut.
